Our projects

  The Health Portal is a personalised access to health services. In the Health Portal, you can find topics related to maintaining your health, view your health data and use various services. It was created for Estonian citizens who can use their computer or smartphone to find information about their own or their family's health.

The new solution, which will be launched in Estonia in the summer of 2022, will simplify the work of doctors and other health care workersprofessionals, providing quick access to a summary of the health data of a foreign citizen in a critical situation. This means that if a person is involved in an accident and is unable to give explanations or does not know the local language, the doctor can get basic information about his or her critical health data (drug allergies, recent surgeries, etc.), and is therefore enabled to ensure better treatment.

The e-service developed for the Social Insurance Board helps people to get the needed medical appliances faster and cheaper. We no longer work with data on paper. This is more convenient for our customers and our employees and ensures that the service is received faster.  

Since May 2020, family physicians and nurses can use the decision support system of clinical decisions that enables to receive patient-based recommendations to their desktop and helps reach quality decisions faster. The clinical decision support system is the first one of its kind in Estonia, as it gathers and analyses people’s data, e.g., the diagnoses of the last five years, prescribed medicines, analyses, blood pressure measurements, lifestyle indicators and genetic risk scores.

The Register of Medicinal Products is a state register, the purpose of which is to keep account of all medicinal products and their packages sold in Estonia. For creating a more user-friendly and modern environment, the webpage of the Register of Medicinal Products was renewed in 2020. During the upgrade, the search system became much more convenient, making it easier to search for information related to medicines from both the phone and the computer. For the process, a working group was established consisting of family physicians, citizens and pharmacists, who tested the new solution in web and mobile view.

In Estonia, approximately 15,500 deaths are reported in a year. As a result of the e-report of death project, death-related data began to be exchanged digitally between institutions and relatives of the deceased were freed from the bureaucracy.

The project created an application for managing the lists of raw data and laboratory analyses encoded in the LOINC standard.

SamTrack is an information system that helps make drug-related procedures faster and more convenient.

TALIS – the information system of the Health Board's laboratories helps to get rid of obsolete technological solutions in the fields of food chemistry, microbiology, cosmetics and clinical microbiology, and enables the transition to electronic procedures, higher service quality and cost savings through new technological solutions.

Since August 2022, the information system of the Health Board has a new content and form. Today, the information system includes the state register of health care workers, the state register of activity licenses for the provision of health care services, and the state register of pharmacists. The new unified database will be called the Information System for Health Management (MEDRE 2).

With the spread of COVID-19, health data become more important than ever, leading to decisions that affected all walks of life and the implementation of new COVID-19 restrictions. As such health information is managed by TEHIK and in order to provide fast and comprehensive information on COVID-19 patients to crisis managers, researchers and the media, TEHIK started to publish it as open data for the first time in Estonian medical history. In parallel with the start of COVID-19 vaccination, TEHIK also started to release vaccination information as open data.

The health information system that turned 12 in 2021 is one of the flagships of the Estonian digital state. During these years, digital solutions have become a part of everyday life in the health care sector. Spreading information via e-channels, be it e-consultation, digital prescription, remote services or other solutions, have changed the way health care services are consumed. Taking into account the speed of digital development, the current system has started to limit the development of e-health in Estonia.   UpTIS - the next development leap for the health information system
